Freebie Friday!

Happy Friday friends!  Can't believe how fast this week is going, but excited that this is the last day of "Let's take a gamble and have some fun". Hope you all found one of the posts from this week helpful!  Today I get to tag a freebie from my store and find a freebie from any store on TpT.  Back to school is going to be a focus in about a month, I thought it would be a good idea to post something that would be helpful for the beginning of the school year.

I created labels for school supplies.  When it is "Meet the Teacher" night, students bring in their supplies.  I place each label on a box for students to place their supplies.  I also included mini supply labels to place within the classroom.  It is a great visual and organizational item.  Hope you enjoy!

The next item I want to share is my Boggle Freebie....thought I'd include one more freebie. Click on the worksheet for the freebie!

The next Freebie I found was a clipart set for back to school. I thought this was a great freebie especially if you create items for your own classroom!  It would be perfect for a welcome letter, open house presentation, etc.  You can find a lot of uses out of this clipart. It's so cute too! I found it at Krista Wallden's TpT store.

The other freebie I found is at Down Under Teacher TpT store.  I thought these strategy cards would be great to post on a reading bulletin board.  You use these as part of your CAFE program within your classroom.  I use strategy cards to help students make reading goals.

Curriculum Night/Open House

Curriculum night came and went...now we are focused and continue to be in full swing!

I thought I would share a few pics and a freebie from what I share on curriculum night.  Curriculum night is an important night for parents and teachers.  There is a lot of information that needs to be discussed and sent home.  I thought I could hopefully give you a few ideas for your curriculum night.
I place a few items at the students' desk/seats for their parents.  I also have a table set aside for our classroom wish list.  I place stars on the table and write the items that we need for our classroom.

Copy of my complete powerpoint presentation (parents can keep a copy and take notes)

This is a pic of my classroom door...every so often I will change the pics to update the school community on what we are learning within the classroom.

Parents love looking at what their children want to be when they grow up.  There are some creative ideas. I place this outside our classroom for all to see.

On Curriculum Night I have my students create a "mini-me"  On the front of the mini-me's, each student fills out a "Who Am I?" mini booklet.  The parents have to find their child's mini-me and read the "Who Am I?" mini booklet to make sure they are at the correct seat.  The kids were so excited to do this activity...they couldn't wait to hear if their parents could guess where they sat.

In front of their mini-me's...I place a folder with important info...the kids color their own folders...on top of the folders the kids draw a pic of their guardians or family.

Have you ever wondered, when you give something away, if people are actually downloading the items?

I like to give my products away and often wonder if they are put to use...wouldn't you love to see your items in action?!?!  If you are out there and have an item I have created I would love to hear what you are using or just send pics!

I have been asked by a lot of people where I got my weather chart...well you found the right place! Part of our curriculum is to teach weather to our students...this chart is a perfect way to help your class keep track of the weather day to day.  My students use this chart as a visual to help them fill out their weather graph.  I found this weather clipchart on Pinterest, but it was just a cache with no link. Gotta love PINTEREST! Soooo whomever created this lovely weather chart, I owe all my credit to you.  I have seen other versions of this on TPT as well.  Here is my version of the chart...

This is my bulletin board in my classroom...the calendar numbers I found at the dollar tree, chart is at my tpt store, and the days and months can also be found at my tpt store...

You can use this sheet of paper on Meet the Teacher Night or Open House.  I keep the sheets and put them in my teacher binder.  There is a tab for Student Info...this is where I place these sheets, along with a few other things that are important.  They are easy to get to when you need to contact a parent or check to see how a child is getting home.  I will share a few pics from my planner...it helps me stay ORGANIZED!  This is an old pic, since then I have added the rest of the tabs to my planner.  Check it out here.

Freebie and To Do List Linky

I am linking up with Lorraine over at Fabulous First Grade Froggies for her To Do List Linky.

Here it goes:

1. Finish creating TPT products for the beginning of the school year.

2. Create a new classroom website on blogger (we use to have ours on iweb, but some of us are making a new transition into blogger...shouldn't be much trouble since I already have one.

3. Send my teacher planner off to have tape binding put on it.  Can't wait to get organized!

4. Laminate and cut out my new Chevron Classroom Decor Set.

5. Laminate and cut out my new "I Can Write" bulletin board set.

6. Map out my schedule, look over my long range plans, share my "Back to School" Packet with my teammates. You can find the packet here...

7. Rearrange my classroom.

8. Go to Bradburns: I need fadeless bulletin board paper...I am sure I will find more things to buy!

9. Organize my Word Work Center.

10. Print off beginning of the year letters, all about me, folder cover, wis list, etc....more to add to this list later for meet the teacher night!

11. Create my class wordle and frame it again!  I thought it turned out cute last year and my kids loved trying to find their names...gonna do it again!

12. New curtains??? Hmmm?

13. Makeover my bulletin boards (math board, calendar, writing board)

14. Sit down with team to look over my long range plans that I looked over, first six weeks plan, beginning of the year plans, etc.

15. Number my coat hooks and mailboxes with my colored chevron theme. Switch around my coat hooks?

16. Clean out my closet and shelves.

17. Revamp my listening center.

18. Read all about the new phonics program and read the new Lucy Calkins writing set.

I think this is a good start so I will stop adding to my list of to-dos...do you have similar things to do?

                         sunglasses, I don't go anywhere without them!  I would also add magazines and bevies!
